Gonzo's Two Room are very happy to announce that Fabio & Grooverider will be joining us for a 2.5 hour 'RAGE Set'.

RAGE was a weekly Thursday night party started in 1988 at the height of Acid House fever. RAGE was a different beast. While it certainly channeled some of that Acid energy, it pitted it against the new and exciting sounds emanating from Belgium, Amsterdam, Detroit, Sheffield, Essex and Hackney and in turn created a new style, a new sonic attitude and energy in the process. Rumbling bass-lines, narcotic synth rushes and roughly chopped and sped-up breakbeats all merged into a style that we now know as Jungle. Nothing like this had been heard before, this was a brand new style and it was coming out of London's West End and Fabio & Grooverider were the people firmly behind it.

As Fabio & Grooverider explain “playing an irresistible brand of New York house, German Techno and UK Breakbeat we were breaking the rules by speeding up some records and chopping up breakbeats using just record decks and a mixer, inspiring producers to make tracks in a new futuristic style, this music would become known as Jungle. Coupled with a young, mixed crowd which consisted of gangsters, models, rude boys and Pop stars, London had never seen anything quite like RAGE, it was the entrance point to a brave new world, artists from Carl Cox to a young wide-eyed Goldie were part of an ecstatic audience. Heaven was the perfect place to hold such an event a big cavernous space with maze like tunnels, a lashing sound system and amazing visuals, this was indeed a labyrinth.

RAGE ran for four years, in that time it changed the landscape of dance music. It was a daring glimpse into the future and still ranks as one of the highlights of our career. There will never be another night like RAGE, dance music has changed too much so for those who were there, they will never forget the rapturous energy. The birthplace of Jungle. For those who weren't there, you missed something magical.”

François Kevorkian, alias François K, who is a French DJ, remixer, producer and record label owner. Having started his career in renowned clubs such as the Paradise Garage and Studio 54, the New York City resident is widely considered as one of the forefathers of house music.

This is going to be a pretty special party!

“The name High Contrast is a philosophy,” explainsLincoln Barrett, the man behind the moniker, “When I started making drum & bass in the late ‘90s it was very dark, masculine and techy-sounding. I really wanted to flip that, to sample disco and be more feminine. People laughed at me but it was ahead of the curve, and more people started doing that. Now it’s time to find another way of changing it...”

High Contrast has been at the leading edge of the scene for 15 years. He curated music for the 2012 OlympicOpening Ceremony; he’s worked with everyone from Underworld to DJ Fresh; he’s headlined festivals; he did a timeless Fabriclive mix; and he’s one of dance music’s elite remixers, achieving acclaim for reworks of Adele, Duke Dumont, White Stripes, Kanye West and, of course, London Grammar’s ‘Strong’.

Already making moves in 2020 having been nominated for a grammy for best remix, High Contrast shows no sign of stopping!

On February 29th We're incredibly Excited to have him in the cage at Gonzo's Two Room for a 2 hour set!

We’re back at our favourite club space in the city for our first party of 2020. We’ve got some very exciting plans this year and we can’t wait to kick things off. Deep selections and dance floor heaters across all things house, disco, techno, soul, garage and world music.

Prospa are a rising electronic duo, Harvey Blumler and Gosha Smith. The Leeds natives broke on to the scene, playing at Creamfields, WHP, Glastonbury and ADE. Prospa's unique reimagining of classic dance is exactly why the duo are so hotly tipped by tastemakers such as Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Monki, Mixmag, and Data Transmission.

We thought we'd start the new decade with a bang so we have invited Belfast born Ejeca to join us!

Ejeca aka Garry McCartney is one of Belfast’s best musical exports in recent years from the growing scene in Northern Ireland. His down- to-earth attitude has allowed him to gain recognition from his musical peers and with constant solid releases it’s always been music first, hype later.

From a young age his fascination with production culminated in early releases such as the limited edition, vinyl-only Tusk Wax Five EP, and his work with fellow Northern Irish, Bicep on AUS. After 12 long years of hard work, his big break finally came when two of his tracks were named 'Essential Tune of the Week' on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show.

Ejeca is now a firmly established name as a reputable purveyor of high quality house and techno with strong support from the key tastemakers such as Sven Vath, The Black Madonna, Kolsch, Joris Voorn, Laurent Garnier, Bicep, Maya Jane Coles & lots more.

It’s safe to say Ejeca has got his hands full as he maintains a worldwide DJ tour schedule, full of releases and his Trance Wax alias kicking up a storm throughout key tastemaker and music purveyors.
